Heavy rain in the morning. Heat in the afternoon. Long hours of work. Working outdoors when the weather is bad is not easy at all, especially in some professions. On the other hand, in some sectors such as the electrical industry, workers face the risk of an electric arc daily. Even though there is equipment that offers protection against the electric arc, it usually is very heavy, so workers sometimes don’t put it when it’s hot, which increases the risk of accidents.
However, nowadays, electrical operators have GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments with arc flash protection. These garments remain comfortable and light both dry and wet. In addition, they offer long-lasting waterproofing and protect against the thermal risks of the electric arc. In other words, they provide a maximum level of comfort and protection. GORE® PYRAD® fabric technology blocks connective heat during exposure to the electric arc flash and prevents the spread of the flame by forming a charred layer on the fabric.
These products meet the following standards:
- Protective clothing against the thermal hazards of the electric arc: EN 61482-1-2, Class 2 (7kA); EN 61482-1-1, 49.1 cal / cm² corresponding to Hazard Risk Category 4 according to NFPA 70E.
- Fire-retardant and heat-resistant protective clothing, EN ISO 11612 A1, A2, B2, C1, D2, E1, F1 (clauses 7.2 – 7.6 (codes B, C, D, E, F), tested with 120 g / m² lining of aramid / viscose (50:50)).
- Protective clothing for welding work and associated processes, EN ISO 11611 class 2 A1 (clauses 6.8 – 6.10 tested with a 120 g / m² aramid / viscose lining (50:50))
- High Visibility Garments, EN ISO 20471 High Visibility Yellow, High Visibility Orange, High Visibility Red.
- Rain protection, EN 343 class 3/3.
- Electrostatic properties, EN 1149-3 / -5.
- Protective clothing against liquid chemicals, EN 13034 Type 6.
- Rain tower test, EN 14360.
