GORE-TEX membrane
The GORE-TEX membrane is made up of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene ePTFE. Its inherent characteristics make it hydrophobic (high surface tension) which makes it waterproof to liquids and therefore also to acids and chemical agents. In addition, it is thermally stable between -240ºC and 270ºC.
Waterproof
The microporosity of the ePTFE membrane is 20,000 times smaller than a water molecule, therefore it constitutes a perfect barrier for water drops. Also, there is the repellency treatment on the outer fabric.
Breathable
The pores are 700 times larger than the steam produced by heat and humidity, which dissipates to the outside, thus preventing the accumulation of sweatand keeping the user dry all the time.
Windbreaker
It is a windbreak membrane because the air is partially repelled by the microporous structure of the membrane.
